Under 18 Band Classes
Starting January 2026 > Webs Page Under Construction 😊
Our Under 18 Band Classes give young musicians aged 8–17 (with at least six months’ playing experience) the chance to experience the excitement of playing in a real band—supported every step of the way by specialist tutors and high-quality gear.
We run two levels—Beginner and Foundational—each tailored to support different stages of musical development.
Beginner classes take place on Saturdays and are divided into three age groups for the best learning experience.
Each class includes up to 20 musicians (4 drummers, 4 bassists, 4 guitarists, 4 keyboardists, 4 vocalists) and is split into two parts, and group instrument specific group tuition and a full band rehearsal.
Our Foundational classes are for young musicians further along in their journey—ready to take more responsibility and rehearse their parts independently before class. There’s no group instrument instruction—instead, the focus is on collaborative band performance from the very first session.
Classes run mid-week after school, typically between 16:30 and 18:00, and still follow our proven band structure: working through a setlist of songs that stretch each member musically and stylistically. These are ideal for students preparing to move into more advanced musical settings.
Beginner
Our new Beginner Band Classes for young musicians are designed for those ready to play with others for the first time, with dedicated, instrument-specific teachers guiding every step. This class provides the perfect blend of structured learning and hands-on band experience.
Each class consists of four drummers, four bassists, four guitarists, four keyboardists, and four vocalists, ensuring a supportive, collaborative learning environment where participants work alongside others on the same instrument.
Each session is split into two parts:
Instrument Breakout Sessions (First Half)
Participants break into five instrument-specific groups (drums, bass, guitar, keys, and vocals) for focused practice with their dedicated specialist teacher. The unique silent practice environment allows students to hear their individual sound clearly while still playing as part of a group.
Drummers each get their own Roland Electric Drum Kit to practice without overwhelming the space.
Keyboardists use Roland & Nord Keyboards, the same high-quality gear found in our advanced classes.
Guitarists, bassists, and vocalists use Silent Rehearsal Mixers, allowing them to hear their own sound and their tutor through headphones, without external distractions.
Full Band Rehearsal (Second Half)
After the breakout sessions, everyone comes together to rehearse the songs as a full band. We transition from the silent setups to professional-grade live equipment, the same used in our more advanced classes and jam nights. This real-world amplified performance setting ensures participants experience the thrill of playing in a live band, right from the start.
This class is the perfect introduction to playing in a band, helping you develop technique, timing, teamwork, and performance skills while having fun and playing great music. If you’re a young musician looking to take your first step into band performance, this is the place to start!
Foundational
Our Foundational Under 18 Band Classes are designed for young musicians who are ready to move beyond the basics and delve deeper into band performance. Tailored for different age groups, these classes ensure that each participant is appropriately challenged and supported throughout their musical journey.
These classes emphasize independent learning while still providing access to expert guidance when needed. Students will take full responsibility for learning their parts, but will receive occasional feedback and support from specialist teachers to refine their skills.
Participants are expected to come to class with their parts already learned, ready to focus on performance rather than instruction. They will tackle more complex songs, stepping outside their comfort zones and building confidence in their playing. With the support of their tutors, they’ll develop greater self-sufficiency in their practice and learn how to apply their knowledge in a band setting.
The ultimate goal is to help students build individual accountability and prepare them for more advanced musical challenges in the future, ultimately equipping them with the skills and confidence to perform in a live band environment.
Unlike the beginner classes, Foundational Band Classes meet mid-week, after school, from 16:30 to 18:00, giving students the opportunity to focus on their band skills before the adult classes begin.
